FAQ
The Oceanside Task Force on Homelessness (OTFH) is a collaborative group of dedicated individuals and organizations addressing homelessness together. The OTFH was started by the City of Parksville in 2010 to address homelessness and issues related to homelessness in the local region.
The region – known as ‘Oceanside’ – uses the same boundaries as School District 69. It includes about 50,000 people centred on Parksville and Qualicum Beach on the east coast of Vancouver Island facing the Straight of Georgia and the mainland of British Columbia. It includes the communities stretching 50 km along the coast from Nanoose Bay to Deep Bay and inland 10 km to Whiskey Creek.
As a regional initiative, the Town of Qualicum Beach, the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Oceanside RCMP Detachment currently participate, with support from the MLA.
Mission Statement
As a team our mission is to create Oceanside as a community without homelessness and to improve living conditions for people at-risk of homelessness.
